Welcome to Gaming Lit.

It is time for a proper introduction. I am Jon K Langdon, and this is Gaming Lit..

Gaming Lit. is a blog that discusses themes in video games that go beyond the search for farming spots and into the valley where video games and real life crossover. Is Ivy of the Soul Calibur series an unrealistic depiction of women? Are the people of Dragon Quest IV actually worth saving? Whether by accident or design, video games play upon our notions of the human experience. Gaming Lit. gives attention to the hidden soul of video games and the implications that arise when gamers find humanity’s mirror in their escape from reality.

Look, it’ll be fun. The men and women who develop and produce video games are artists and deserve thoughtful discussion of their work. Call it looking to deep in shallow waters, but video games are more than high scores and achievements. Tune in every week for new articles that I promise will make you go “Hmm”. And who knows, you might find some ammo to use when snobby relatives get on you for playing video games.

More to come,

JKL
